CourseAssist

• Entrepreneurship, Geometry and Spanish now show the right dates. Their weeks are worked out from a start date, and that date still pointed at the first full week — so once week 1 became the 8/13–14 window, every week after it read seven days late.
• The Courses menu no longer slides behind the section menu, and opening either one closes the other.

• Her details are no longer public. The course list and grade report were readable by anyone who knew the address — her name, her schedule, her scores, and every teacher's email and phone number. They now need a sign-in, and this reference page is owner-only.
• Backup and restore are checked end to end. A pending “ask to check off” used to disappear when a backup was restored; it now comes back with everything else.
• Every course runs 19 numbered weeks per segment, beginning with the short 8/13–14 window even where nothing was scheduled in it. Week 12 now means the same dates in every class. English had three weeks with no number at all; Geometry had 16 where everything else had 18.
• Work ahead is all of next week, not a sample of the next few items in each course, and it says which week it means.
• Biology and English enrichment work now sits in real weeks instead of a pile at the top of the segment.
• Repeated wrong passwords are slowed down. A correct password always works, even straight after — the whole house shares one connection.
• The Courses menu holds four editable links, and the FLVS one now opens the actual sign-in page rather than the gradebook.
• Fixed: the Courses menu hung open on load and had no background; the sign-in slots on Directory looked unlike every other field; the header button showed raw text instead of an arrow.
• This guide has been rewritten, and there's a Start here if you've not used it before.

• The school's own sites moved to the header. A Courses menu next to the logo on every screen, so opening one doesn't mean going to a particular page first.
• Contacts is now Directory, and holds editable links to the school sites alongside the teacher cards.
• These docs open in their own window and no longer link back.
• “Next four weeks” really is four weeks now. It was capped at 20 rows, which quietly hid the back half of the month; it now scrolls instead.

• Pace is now counted in assignments, not weeks. On pace means it's the current week; ahead means work finished from a week that hasn't started; behind means work still open from a week that's passed.
• Behind and ahead are never cancelled against each other. A course running a week ahead used to hide one running a week behind and report everything on pace.
• “1 week ahead” now requires every assignment in the next week to be finished. Otherwise it counts assignments.
• Biology rebuilt from the revised guide: week 3 covers two calendar weeks, the welcome call is week 1, and both Honors segment exams are listed.
• Spanish and Entrepreneurship enrichment work now sits in real weeks.
• This Week no longer repeats undated work — it lives on the course tab, so this stays a picture of the week.

• Exempt work. Type ex or ex/25 where a score goes and it drops out of the grade, the pace and the totals — she can't be behind on work she was never required to do.
• Not graded. Anything the grade report has no row for loses its score box and says so, instead of inviting a grade that doesn't exist.
• Graded work no pace chart schedules moved into a fold at the top of each segment, and out of the pace figures — parking it in a week was reporting her behind for work that was never due.
• Geometry: 34 Enhanced and Enrichment assignments placed into their real weeks.
• Entrepreneurship 01.02 was worth 50 points and recorded as worth nothing.
• English: the segment two collaboration was landing on the exam week; two floating weeks had overlapping dates.

• Named the planner CourseAssist, with a new planner mark.
• Three account types: Owner (course setup), Parent (check work off, enter grades) and Student (view and request).
• Every graded assignment from the FLVS grade reports is now included — 110 that the pace charts left out, including each module's four Enhanced Assignments.
• Grades are computed here and match the school's exactly for all five FLVS courses.

What this is

One place for all six courses: what's due this week, what's done, what each assignment is worth, current grades, teacher contacts and live class times.

The school spreads this across two sites and a page per course — nothing is hidden there, it's just a lot of clicking to answer “what does she owe right now?”. This pulls the answer onto one screen, adds the assignments the pace charts leave out, and keeps the running grade next to the work it came from.

Start here

1. This Week answers the daily question. Live classes at the top, then everything due this week, then anything still open from earlier weeks. If it's empty, she's current.
2. Tick things off as they're finished. Ophelia can't tick her own — she taps Ask to check off and it appears on Overview for a parent to approve.
3. Type the score when the teacher posts it, as earned/possible — 21/25. The grade at the top of the course recalculates itself.
4. Courses ↗ in the top corner opens the school's own sites when you need the real thing.

The screens

• This Week — live classes, what's due in the current Mon–Sun window, anything still open from earlier weeks, and the next few items in each course if she wants to work ahead.
• Overview — totals, assignments behind and ahead, pending requests, every course with its grade and progress, and the next four weeks.
• Inbox — Canvas messages, submission comments and announcements. Marking read, starring, archiving and deleting all sync back to Canvas.
• Each course — the full schedule week by week, with points, scores and status. Graded work that no pace chart schedules sits in a Not on the pace chart fold at the top of each segment; it counts toward the grade but has no due date, so it's kept out of the pace figures.
• Contacts — teachers, phone, email, office hours, live lesson rooms. Numbers and addresses are tappable.

Reading a course page

Each course lists all 19 weeks of a segment, so week 12 means the same dates in every class. Week 1 is the short 8/13–14 window; some courses had nothing scheduled in it.

A week shows every assignment with what it's worth. Tags tell you the rest at a glance:

At the top of each segment is a fold marked Not on the pace chart. That's graded work the printed chart never scheduled. It counts toward the grade but has no due date, so it's kept out of the pace figures — it can't make her look behind.

How grades work

Journalism comes straight from Canvas and needs no input. The five FLVS courses are entered by hand: when she finishes something, she asks for it to be checked off; you approve it and type the score as earned/possible (for example 21/25).

The site totals those itself, the same way FLVS does — earned divided by what's been graded so far, truncated. It currently matches every course's official grade exactly, so you shouldn't need to cross-check.

An item checked off without a score shows Completed — waiting on grade until you fill one in.

Where the school excuses an assignment its report shows ex / 25 rather than a score, so type ex (or ex/25 to keep the points visible). It shows an Exempt chip and drops out of the grade, the pace and the totals. Don't use 0/0 — that reads as a real zero.

Work the grade report has no row for — module welcome pages, welcome calls, checklists, catch-up weeks — shows Not graded and has no score box. It still needs checking off.

How pace works

Counted in assignments, not weeks.

The weekend belongs to the coming week, so Friday's work counts as behind from Saturday morning. Break weeks are skipped.

Behind and ahead are never cancelled against each other. Three assignments pulled forward in one course don't offset two missed in another — Overview shows them as separate figures, and the behind count only appears when it isn't zero.

“1 week ahead” means every assignment in the next week is done. Anything less says how many assignments are ahead instead.

Exempt work is left out of all of it — she can't be behind on something she was never required to do.

Backups

Anything typed into the site — contacts, grades, check-offs, the calendar — lives on the server, not in the code. The Backup screen (Owner only) downloads all of it as a file and restores it later. A copy is also kept automatically in each browser that loads the site.

If something looks wrong

The grade here is worked out from the scores that have been typed in, so if it disagrees with the school, a score is usually missing or mistyped. Hover the calculated grade — it shows the totals it used and how many scores went into them.

When a teacher emails a schedule change, it appears in a coral banner at the top of This Week and on that course's page, so a correction can't get lost.

Everything typed into the site is stored centrally, not on one device, so it reads the same on a phone and a laptop. The Backup screen keeps a copy of all of it.
